Seahawks News Editorial

By Nathan Brown

Wow what a relief....the Seahawks signed a free agent!!! Holmgren signed someone!!! And here I was wondering if the Hawks would ever sign anyone, believing all they would do is release players. The addition of George Koonce to the Seahawks lineup will prove to be a volcanic awakening to a position which lacked players that could cause an eruption. I don't really know why George Koonce was signed for only one year, but I am elated that he was signed at such a bargain. He is a player that has proven to be a force in the league, a catalyst for big plays, and also a mentor to the young players. I will never expect Deshone Myles to fully recover from his nightmarish knee problems he suffered in the past. The signing of Koonce will take a huge load off Myles' back and he won't have to worry about being "the man" at the middle linebacker position. I think he can prove to be an admirable backup. I am anticipating big things from him, but only after he is as healthy as possible. Take your time Deshone, I love you man. Well now that we have signed George Koonce, when will the Hawks be offering free salmon entrees to Gilbert Brown and Carl Pickens? Maybe I am living in a dreamworld, or hoping for a miracle, but I would love to see Carl Pickens end his carnivorous career with the Bengals and start a new diet chock-full of lobster and crab juice. Mike Holmgren is close to signing Gilbert Brown, and I believe that it could happen very soon. I am, however, slobbering over the Carl Pickens situation. He would seriously upgrade the wide receiving corps. Although Pickens might have an attitude that some consider a problem, at least he doesn't drink and drive. I can look to every corner and still not find a cornerback that Mike Holmgren is wanting to sign. Last time I checked, I heard that Leamont Evans was close to signing. Last time I checked, I never knew who he was. Terrell Buckley is close to signing with the Lions. I guess Holmgren did not listen to my advice. If the Lions do not sign Buckley, I am hoping Seattle realizes that Shawn Springs, Willie Williams, and Terrell Buckley would scare some opposing wide receivers if they were on the same team. So far so good. Seattle has done a good job signing their draft picks. They recently signed WR James Williams, who I believe could blossom just as Randy Moss did. They both came out of Marshall but Williams has more speed. I am not saying he will perform as well as Moss but he can definitely perform well enough to open some eyes. Williams will get some playing time at WR, and as a kickoff returner. I know for a fact he has good hands. He can hold on to a football, and I think that is because he did not get lessons from Ahman Green. We will see to the fullest extent just how good James Williams can be. Williams has great hands, which he has shown during minicamp. My best friend Cosmin and I saw him perform and we were impressed. I will keep the updates rolling, and until next time, keep stressing about Carl Pickens. Mike Holmgren, please capture the Bengal!!!! If you can't, call on me and I will snatch the ~kitten~ ;) **!$#
